Very nice composition, and what a treat to have two of them to line up like this. That looks like a wall on the horizon – is that a fort or a village (or both I suppose)?
Thanks, actually it is part of the Jebel Akhdar mountain range: I could not get into a position where it was below the horizon. Gave up in the end before I fell back down the hill I was perched on. I don’t think it detracts from the overall composition ..?
Yes I can see what you mean when I try and look without previous knowledge: the rock in the foreground is very chocolate brown and the range is a medium grey so the minus blue filter has given it more emphasis I think.
Thanks and yes in a lot of cases you are; some of the more remote ones such as these, enter at ones own risk 🙂
Also, many needed a rope, which was pulled up after entry.
Yes, they are rather synonymous with Oman: most villages will have at least one on a prominent hill.
Goes back to the days when thing were rather tribal and some what war like.

I dont think it detracts either, though a bit surprising it is not a wall.

Are you able to enter these watchtowers, David? Perhaps they are unsafe.
