Going back to the classic editor.

I was going to have a rant ! but just installed Greasemonkey and added a script that stops me ever seeing that childish new edit page that WordPress has foisted on us…….. now no need.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. “Sometimes small things just make your day” – indeed they do, and this blog post was one such small thing. The script is now on my Chrome and Firefox since we use both here and works like a charm. Thank you!

    1. My pleasure – if you have been on the W.P forum, you will know that many complaints and solutions have been put forward – this seemed the best compromise.

      1. I have had other complaints about WP too – the pattern I notice is that for some things they are quite flexible and responsive. When they are not, it is because they are phasing out some functionality and it does not fit their long term plans to make adjustments. I suspect that this is the case with the classic dashboard – it would be cheaper for WP to have a single editing tool, and they seem to be working in that direction. On the other hand, they do provide a lot of great functionality for free so I am not sure I can really complain too much. I love workarounds though, when WP is being unresponsive.

        1. I think they forget or ignore that some of us pay for many options, which this could have been one.
It’s using us as ‘beta testers’ without acknowledging the fact, that a lot of users find a pain – a simple “we are going to do this, what do you think of it?” would be nice.

  2. For some strange reason, my editor remembers the old one whenever I create a new post. However if it ever seized doing that, I would definitely use Greasemonkey! Thanks for sharing! Happy weekend, my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Ha, that is most likely because your browser cached web content has not been cleared. In firefox its under options – advanced – network tab.
I.E I think its Internet options – delete browsing history (never use but I’m sure that all that’s needed)
      If that helps ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. That makes sense! Indeed I haven’t cleared my cached web content for some time now…. hmm, maybe i should delay it a bit longer! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thank you – yes, it helps!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
