The first time I visited Whitby was in 1975, it certainly was a bustling fishing town then. Best Fish & Chips I’ve ever had.

  Still has some of the best fish & chips in Yorkshire. Unfortunately, like most East coast fishing towns, nearly all the boats have gone over the last 30 odd years. Maybe there is a possibility that if future events allow, they can re-establish the fleets.

I’m enjoying this Whitby series. A nice sense of nostalgia blended with documentary.

  Nostalgia being the operative word !
  Very little of our fishing communities exist anymore, especially the East coast.
  Political events have almost destroyed it over the last 30 years.
