I will anyway 🙂
Scandinavian troll stories/legends go back possibly as far as the bronze age, so they may have historical roots with the Anglo-Saxons occupation of England. That may have been reinforced by the Viking day trippers of the early 8th century.
Most people have known them from the Norwegian tale of the Billy goats gruff, a bridge rather than just a water crossing being introduced.
Great shot … be nice to the residents 🙂
Thank you, I always say nice things about them before crossing. Even their equivalent (Jinn) in Oman got a nice greeting in arabic. 😎
I wonder how the bridge troll legend started? Could it have something to do with real-life bandits who would accost people trying to cross bridges?
You don’t have to answer that question, I’m just thinking out loud!
I will anyway 🙂

Thanks for the information! I suppose when one’s history is as violent as; well, everyone’s, that all sorts of monster stories are likely to pop up.
Stilling.
It is.
Good advice and beautiful, inviting image, David. 😊
Many thanks Jane.
That made me smile.. and want to cross that bridge!
Thank you Helen, it was a nice walk on a dry morning. Not had many of those this last few months.
This is a “storybook” bridge. I can imagine many wonderful stories involving this location. Beautiful!!!!!
Great for ‘Poohsticks’ as well 😉
Very, VERY nice, David!
Thank you very much.
Elementary! 😉
Indubitably so. 😉
Certainly more than just a bridge in your wonderful photo!
Thank you Dave, it was a cold morning walk while the rain kept away..
Sound advice! Gorgeous shot.
Thank you.
Trolls are quite nice as long as you are polite and don’t mention modern movie representations. 🙂
LOL, I love it!
