How do you find the monopod? Does it have a ball head or similar? My monopod is not really useable as it has no movement, ie: no head.
What a great setting for a final resting place – so much better than a dreary urban cemetery!
I have some streaky rain pictures too – I like them. I did not know that did not happen on film.

  I use either of these (Sorry could not get link to work) Manfrotto Monopod Head Quick-Release or Manfrotto Ball-Head. otherwise yes the mono-pod would be almost useless.
  I think it is the resolution being so high on the D800, on 35mm or even 6×6 they would probably just look like tiny scratches on the negative.

      Get a strong one and it will be well worth it when on the hill, sometimes a tripod is just out of the question.

Looks like you are now getting out and about with your D800 David. No doubt the weather is more conducive to outdoor activities.

  Yes Dave: beginning to find my way around it and discard all the things I don’t need. (for that read, used my F2 & 4 so long now; old dog new tricks….)
  But it is a great camera and the resolution is fantastic, I am getting convinced.
  Not that I am complaining about the D200 it served the purpose of a cheap introduction, will get it converted to IR when I have a chance.
  I have a strange image from the D800, taking pictures in the rain with the 50mm f1.8 on a tripod; it showed the rain as streaks against the sky! At first I thought it could be dirt on lens but no and anyway a lens hood in place. Magnification in P/S indicated they were slanting from the direction of the rain. Have not seen that on film!!!!
  will try and post a snapshot of the image, when I have time.
