A few quick snaps while I was waiting for some work to be carried out – taken from the very top of Shams: where the tourists can’t get 😉

BLIMEY! That is HIGH! I liked the squiggly fossily bits that seem to say “I was once a sea”. Extraordinary views. The last two with cloud shadows reminded me of chinese paintings with mountains rimming off into distance with wriggly (cf squiggly) profiles. I envy you being up there – thank you for showing us the step off at 9 thou – I would have copped out at 5 hundred clutching the rockface in terror. Great photos.
🙂 the last but one is better as that’s nearer 10,000 and the fossils are from the Tethys Ocean during the Mesozoic era.
David.
HOW did you get up there? I shall be soooooo disappointed if there’s a road just behind you…
Sorry but yes there is – well a rather rough dirt track which requires a good 4×4 see link below.

One of the sites across the county that I need to visit once in a while.
I’ll add – awesome from Google Earth too.
Really beautiful! Lucky you!
Thanks.
It gets me away from the heat in Muscat at this time of year.
