Back From Holiday.
Back from a very long but enjoyable holiday: no computer, did not read the news papers and avoided any form of news on the TV (nothing but bad and depressing anyway!) Cannot believe we are well into February already.

The above image (Looking from the garden behind my house) was what I left behind; needless to say, the weather back here in Oman is exceptional at the moment.
Normal service will resume shortly and a very late ‘Happy New Year’ to all who honour me with their presence.
Holiday Time……
That time again….. and just in case we are not here after Friday 🙂
This will be my last post until the end of January 2013, time for my trip back home and all the hustle & bustle of Xmas.
The hotels and shopping malls here in Oman have their Christmas Trees decorated and switched on (very festive) even the odd Father Christmas can be seen. Contrary to popular opinion, especially in some of the media (UK for instance) Christmas is openly celebrated here by those of the Christian faith and the two churches in Muscat will be holding carol services. Oman is a very tolerant society and most are just happy seeing people enjoy themselves.
So a Very Merry Xmas & A Happy New Year.

A Rant !
Why does ‘Blogger’ assume that just because my URL is in Oman; I want the site I am visiting in Bl**dy Arabic……… If I want that language I visit a site written in it. Like Microsoft, always trying to second guess my motives.
Oh and anything else by Google that I have not logged into and forced into English – are you listening Google !!!!
Sorry – just one of those days.

Interesting Geology found at Huqf.
Interesting Geology found at Huqf; all these were within a couple of metres of each other. This is where I wish my knowledge of the subject was more than non-existent……….
Very frustrating !
The yellow/orange had a very sulphurous smell and the dark red/brown was powdery and stained the fingers.
This one and the above seemed to be Iron ore ?
Unusual (For me anyway) crystal formations that were very heavy for their size.
Huqf: early morning clouds.
Siegfried Sassoon.
Craning his body outward; then a flare
Gave one white glimpse of No Man’s Land and wire;
And as he dropped his head the instant split
His startled life with lead, and all went out
