Lone Tree – Sinaw to Duqm rd.
Moving House……..
I am moving house over the weekend so have been unable to devote any time to photography or the computer.
Feel a bit like Arthur Dent of ‘ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ this move has been on and off for months; but now the bulldozers are getting very close (literally)
As with a lot of things here in Oman, it has been hurry up and wait, but the day has finally come. The up side is it is a new modern house and not old style villa, the down side is I go from a large garden to a (being kind here) small one.
But being positive about things: I will have a new Darkroom……..
So when all this turmoil has finished, I will be able to start going out and about again; more exploring and a lot more photography.
What passes for normality on this site, will resume shortly.
Comments made.
I have been away in the north of Oman for a few days working (Gets in the way of my photography sometimes 🙂 )
So would like to take this opportunity and say how much I appreciate all who have posted a ‘Like’ or commented on my photographs. I am very pleased; so thank you for taking the time and trouble to view my blog.
David.
P.s I will be looking forward to the weather improving and the heat abating (better shadows !) so that I can spend more time outdoors in the coming months.

Jabrin Fort.
Philip Glass & Naguib Mahfouz.
Listening to some Philip Glass while reading Naguib Mahfouz’s trilogy of colonial Egypt – The Cairo Trilogy: Palace Walk, Palace of Desire, Sugar Street. The books take you through the history of Cairo at the start of the 20th century, using the trials and tribulations experienced by three generations of the same family.
One can see why he was given the 1988 Nobel Prize for literature.
My tent (Swag).
Just for interest: when I am on an overnight stop, this is my tent or as it came from Australia, swag. One of the best items of kit that I have ever purchased. Why Australia? because they make the best – see this link http://burkewills.outfitters.com.au/aboutBW.html
I have never found anything like it for quality or practicality anywhere in UK. It keeps out Snakes,Scorpions, mosquitoes, rain/snow and very cool in the desert heat.
Ha.. you say: snow in Oman???? well yes especially on Jebel Shams in December.
Sorry but I have been so pleased with it over the years, I thought it deserved a mention (Thanks D.K) and it makes a change from photographs, film and cameras.

Sap Bani Khamis Footpath……
Sap Bani Khamis.
A return visit to the abandoned village of Sap Bani Khamis (As Sab) on ledges above a large overhang at the top end of Wadi Nakhr Gorge.
Altitude 1900m to 1800m: and it was a lot easier 10 or 12 years ago when I was last there 🙂 it’s also got somewhat of a tourist thing now; the route has been marked which takes all the fun out of it. The path at times is only a couple of metres away from a rather large drop! but if one does fall it must be a great view until the abrupt halt……
